We've replaced a natural familial/communitarian/group affiliation with a kind of diffuse modern 'morality', which places niceness and inoffensiveness at the top of the list of virtues. The former scenarios maximize its usefulness and power... the latter leave it little to do.
We're approaching the point (in certain areas; Great Britain, Germany, Sweden) where (anti-state) violence might be justified. But violence would horrify most people, and only lose a movement political support. What's the solution for a cowed and broken population? I'm not sure. I like to think it's rebuilding strength and health but I suspect the degenerative processes are much faster than the reparative ones.
